3. Description of the Services

RethinkHSC provides online educational tools and resources, which may include:

  • AI-assisted essay feedback and marking;
  • reading comprehension exercises and feedback;
  • study support tools;
  • text-specific or subject-specific educational content;
  • chat-based support features; and
  • related educational software and services.

We may add, remove, modify or update features from time to time.

4. Educational purpose only

The Services are designed to support learning and exam preparation. They are not a substitute for school teaching, professional educational advice, legal advice, mental health support, or any formal assessment process.

Any marks, comments, rankings, predictions, band estimates, suggested rewrites, model answers or other outputs are provided for educational support only. They are indicative, not guaranteed, and may differ from the views of teachers, schools, or official exam markers.

5. AI-generated content and limitations

Some parts of the Services use automated systems, including AI models, to generate feedback, explanations, suggestions and other outputs.

You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, generic, inconsistent, or unsuitable in some cases;
  • outputs should be reviewed critically and used with judgment;
  • the Services may occasionally misidentify techniques, themes, rubric alignment, or quality; and
  • RethinkHSC does not guarantee that any output will improve academic results or be accepted by a teacher, school, or examiner.

You remain responsible for how you use any output generated by the Services.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Services for any unlawful purpose;
  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, prompts, system instructions, or underlying models except as permitted by law;
  • share accounts or login credentials with others;
  • upload viruses, malicious code, or harmful content;
  • interfere with the operation, security or integrity of the Services;
  • use the Services to generate cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, harassment, abuse, or misleading content;
  • submit content that infringes another person's intellectual property or privacy rights; or
  • use bots, scripts or automation to access the Services in bulk without our written permission.

We may monitor usage for security, fraud prevention, quality assurance, and enforcement of these Terms.

7. Student submissions and user content

You may submit essays, answers, documents, prompts, messages, and other content through the Services (User Content).

You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, modify, analyse and use that content as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the Services to you;
  • generate feedback and outputs;
  • maintain platform functionality;
  • improve safety, reliability and quality;
  • investigate issues, support requests or misuse; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

You promise that:

  • you have the right to submit the User Content;
  • your User Content does not infringe the rights of others; and
  • your User Content does not contain unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or harmful material.

8. Service reliability and data loss

We aim to provide a reliable platform, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

From time to time, the Services may be unavailable, delayed, inaccurate, or affected by outages, maintenance, third-party failures, internet issues, payment processor issues, or technical errors.

We may implement autosave, recovery, retry or backup features, but unless required by law we do not guarantee that any draft, submission, feedback, or output will always be preserved or recoverable.

You should keep your own copies of important work.

9. Subscriptions, billing and trials

Some Services may be provided on a paid subscription basis.

If you sign up for a paid plan or trial:

  • you authorise us and our payment processor to charge the fees, taxes and recurring subscription amounts disclosed at sign-up;
  • subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date;
  • trial terms, duration, conversion timing and pricing will be disclosed at sign-up;
  • prices may change prospectively, with notice where required;
  • failed payments may result in suspension or downgrade of access; and
  • you are responsible for ensuring your payment details are current.

Unless required by Australian Consumer Law or stated otherwise at sign-up, fees are non-refundable once charged.

10. Cancellations and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Unless stated otherwise, cancellation stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund amounts already paid for the current billing period.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law, including consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded.

Where required by law, we will provide remedies such as a refund, replacement, repair, resupply or other appropriate remedy.

11. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the Services, including the portal, website, branding, software, design, databases, prompts, workflows, study materials, original written content, feedback structures and other platform materials, are owned by or licensed to RethinkHSC.

Except as permitted by law, you must not reproduce, distribute, commercialise, adapt, publish or create derivative works from our materials without our written permission.

You may use outputs and materials generated for your personal educational use only, unless we agree otherwise in writing.

12. Feedback and suggestions

If you provide us with ideas, suggestions, feature requests, bug reports or other feedback, you agree that we may use them without restriction or payment to you.

13. Third-party services

The Services may rely on third-party providers such as payment processors, hosting providers, analytics providers, AI model providers, cloud storage providers, customer support tools, and email services.

We are not responsible for the independent acts or omissions of third-party providers, although we may engage and manage them as part of delivering the Services.

14. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information. By using the Services, you acknowledge that we may handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Services if:

  • you breach these Terms;
  • you misuse the Services;
  • your payment fails or is reversed;
  • your conduct creates legal, security or reputational risk; or
  • we reasonably need to protect the platform, other users, or our rights.

You may stop using the Services at any time.

Termination does not affect any accrued rights, payment obligations, or clauses that are intended to survive termination.

16. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We do not promise that:

  • the Services will always be available, secure or error-free;
  • outputs will always be accurate, complete or suitable for your circumstances;
  • use of the Services will lead to improved marks, academic performance, or exam outcomes; or
  • the Services will meet every user's expectations or study needs.

17. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, liabilities, damages and costs arising from your misuse of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights, except to the extent caused by our own negligence, misconduct, or breach of law.

18. Changes to the Services or Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will publish the updated Terms and may notify users by email, in-product notice, or other reasonable means.
